Best Source for Inspiration in 2012

Fireworks My New Year’s Resolution this year (which is the same every year) is  to write more fiction and be more creative.

Luckily, I have a resource that always keeps my head filled with potential story ideas. It’s a place I visit often for inspiration, a respite from a hard day, or to find interesting conversation starters (especially helpful during holiday parties). This wonderful  fount of creative inspiration is the odd news.

I’m sure you’ve heard of people looking to current events and the news in general to get ideas, but the odd news is sure to give you unique characters, novel plot ideas, and countless comedic scenes.

Much like a small town’s local police blotter, the odd news brings you the goofy, outrageous, interesting, and startling stories that you could image would be told by old timers on the front porch during a lazy summer afternoon.

Here are a few gems from today’s odd news in Yahoo! Odd News and Reuters Oddly Enough:

‘Ninja Cow’ beguiles Nebraska town (Yahoo)

Canadian charity throws doomed bunnies a lifeline (Reuters)

The best goofy but true stories from 2011 (Reuters)
